PERSHORE Town’s match at Southam United in Midland League Division One was abandoned after 72 minutes due to fog with the visitors cruising to victory 4-0.

To add to the frustration, a Town spokesman said only 10 minutes after the abandonment the fog cleared when Pershore had earlier been denied a request for a short break by the referee.

They were two up within 18 minutes as Jamie Clarke, returning from work commitments for his first match in six weeks, fired past the keeper after being put through by Luke Church.

Louis Bridges increased the lead with a shot from a narrow angle that deflected off a defender and looped into the far corner of the net.

Town dominated proceedings throughout and, had it not been for Southam’s keeper, the margin would have been far higher.

Clarke added his second when again getting away from his defender to score past the advancing keeper.

On 65 minutes, Bridges completed his brace with a finish at the near post following Will Gayton’s ball into the box.
