NORTH Cotswold Tri & Run won their maiden team trophy on their debut in the annual Cotswold Hilly 100 relay race.

This extremely tough event, which started and finished at Stratford-upon-Avon, involved a 10-person team.

Each person ran approximately 10 miles and covered many Cotswold towns and villages.

Despite a record number of teams taking part, NCTR’s 10 runners battled hard to earn a third-placed finish in the mixed team category.

They recorded 11hrs 54min 22sec for the 100-mile distance.

Team captain Dennis Walmsley who ran one of the 10 legs and also stayed out all day supporting the team, said: “I’m extremely proud of what the club has achieved given we’re a new club that’s been going for less than a year.”

Club chairman Steve Edwards, who also ran, said: “Everyone in the team showed great spirit and commitment which was fantastic.

“I would also like to thank the NCTR members who supported us on the course which was also very important in the team’s success.”

The split times for each NCTR runner were: Leg 1: Ross Kent - 1:10:03; Leg 2: Kate Krzywiec - 1:15:17; Leg 3: Dennis Walmsley - 1:11:29; Leg 4: Daniel Badger - 1:15:08; Leg 5: Mike Hobbs - 1:03:08; Leg 6: Chris Krzwiec - 1:02:23; Leg 7: Ann Hillary - 1:26:40; Leg 8: Steve Edwards - 1:07:09; Leg 9 - Brittany Teague - 1:13:53; Leg 10 - Lucy Walmsley - 1:09:12.
