LITTLETON maintained their promotion push from The Wildmoor Spa Tennis League Division One with a 3-1 victory against Claverdon.

They closed the gap on table-topping Chipping Campden to just one point after their rivals’ match against bottom side Snitterfield was postponed due to rain.

Pershore and Studley met at Studley where the hosts won 3-1 to move clear in third spot and leave the Worcestershire side fourth.

A comprehensive 4-0 drubbing at table-topping Stratford-on-Avon has pushed Moreton-in-Marsh deeper into relegation trouble in the Premier Division.

Moreton have just eight points under their belt this term and were no match for an impressive Stratford, who boast a 33-point tally.

Stratford have won every game this season. Their top pair Callum Bailey and Simon West beat Brian Lomas and Greg Stotesbury (Moreton) 6-0, 6-1 and defeated Gary Jackson and Chris Elliott (Moreton) 6-0, 6-1.

Chris Marrow and Pieter Uys-Barnard (Stratford) beat Jackson and Elliott 6-0, 6-0 and Lomas and Stotesbury 6-2, 7-5.

Evesham crashed to a 4-0 defeat at Alcester A to slip to sixth and into the relegation zone alongside Alcester B. Alex Woodbridge and Marcus Powell led the way for Alcester in a tough rubber, which they claimed over Evesham’s Andrew Crowther and Chris Francis, after a championship tie-break 6-4, 4-6, 1-0.

They then beat John Clarke and Julien Heath (Evesham) in straight sets 6-0, 6-4. On the other court, Alcester’s Tim Kenneally and Stuart Beach beat Clarke and Heath 6-4, 6-3 and then overcame Crowther and Francis in another tie-breaker 6-4, 3-6, 1-0.

Henley B had several of their normal side away and their reserve side slipped to a 3-1 defeat against fourth-placed Shipston A in Division Two.

Chipping Campden B returned to the top of Division Three after a 4-0 success over fifth-placed Warwick.

Campden hold a one-point lead over the HDA B of Redditch after the latter were held to a 2-2 draw by third-placed Pershore B.

Bidford-on-Avon A lead Inkberrow C by seven points at the top of Division Four.

Both enjoyed 4-0 victories, Bidford over Evesham B and Inkberrow over bottom placed Moreton-in-Marsh C.

HDA C Redditch moved above Evesham despite a 3-1 loss to relegation-threatened Moreton-in-Marsh B.

There was little change at the top of Division Four after Shipston B and Chipping Campden C had their matches postponed due to rain.

Warwickshire County Council defeated Henley C 3-1 to climb above Campden C.
