GILLIAN Spencer and Pat Saville triumphed in a pairs’ greensomes bogey competition at Evesham Golf Club.

The duo clinched the Ray Till Trophies after finishing five shots clear in the ladies’ section event.

Jackie Edmunds presented the pair with the silver cups which her father had donated to the club many years ago.

Meanwhile, Ian Hughes and Ruth Masters won the club’s mixed friendly fourball betterball stableford.

Hughes and Masters carded 47 points, while Richard and Lesley Curnock, with 45 points, took second spot.

Birdies: Ian Hughes (2), Richard Curnock (2), Ruth Masters, John Machin, and Tony Smith.

Mark Harrison, George Parker and Malcolm Carnall combined to win the annual Mid-Summer Madness mixed competition.

The trio recorded a winning haul of 79 points from second-placed Geoff Wellens, Fraser Williamson and Penny Osborne, who shot 78 points.

Twenty one members braved the rigours of a 3:30am rise for the 4:30am tee-off time.

The balanced and drawn teams meant a close encounter with good scores despite the first two holes were played in semi darkness.

The only indication of golf being played was the sound of club on ball and in some cases balls hitting the trees. The course was superbly presented and enhanced by the first light and sunrise.
