CALLUM Brassington-Meehan sprinted to victory as Pershore High School's year eight athletes finished second overall at the Sainsbury’s Worcestershire Summer School Games in Bromsgrove.
He clinched gold in the 100 metres and was part of a 12-strong team from Pershore who donned their athletics vests.
Six boys and six girls from Pershore represented South Worcestershire and battled it out against seven other secondary and middle schools for a prestigious award.
Head teacher Clive Corbett said: “While Pershore only got gold in one event the team placed a brilliant overall second.
"It was a real testament to the depth, energy and effort on show from all 12 athletes across their two individual events.
"It was a great finish to their school athletics season and poses a great expectation of going one better in year nine.”
Meanwhile, Pershore High teenager Elise Blake bagged a silver medal at the Army Cadet National Athletics in Grantham.
The 15-year-old missed out on gold in Lincolnshire after being narrowly beaten in the 800m.
Blake, who represented the Midlands in her age group, was fourth in the 200m.
She had only competed at 200m once before at the Midland competition.
