EVESHAM'S Hugh Homer achieved his long-held ambition when he played nine holes of competitive golf on the first day of his 91st year.
Surrounded by family and friends he drove off accompanied by daughter Jane and grandsons Bill and Ed. Some 30-plus members and family also joined in the round which was celebrated afterwards in the clubhouse.
His wife Jean and other non-playing family and friends joined him for a buffet lunch.
Ninety-year-old Homer has lived in Hill for 45 years and been a member of the Evesham club since 1985.
