LITTLETON’S season got off to a disappointing start with a 3-1 home defeat to Nuneaton Griff in Midland League Division One.
Much of the first half was played in a thunderstorm with heavy rain.
Littleton went ahead on 20 minutes with George Westwood scoring a fine solo goal, going around his marker to draw the keeper and slotting into the top corner.
Play was then confined to midfield but Nuneaton scored a fine equaliser through Reece Williams on 37 minutes.
There followed a period of consolidation as both teams did not wish to commit too many forward.
But a soft penalty on 77 minutes against Littleton turned the game in the visitors’ favour.
Ryan Millerchip converted the penalty and three minutes later a poor back-pass presented Chanda Mulenga with an opportunity to increase the lead which he gratefully accepted to complete the scoring.
Littleton are at home again on Saturday against Uttoxeter Town (3pm).
