PERSHORE Town finished their Midland League Division One game with just nine men after a disappointing second half saw visitors Cadbury Athletic win 3-1.

In the first minute Town's Scott Devlin smashed a fierce volley against the post and Jamie Clarke’s rebound drive was blocked on the line.

Clarke went close again but despite bossing the first half their visitors were fast on the break and keeper Chris Rich kept out two fierce drives from Odane Barnes.

Dane Aldington and Mikey Wright went close with headers while Clarke scooped a chance just wide.

But a reflex handball on the goal line late in the half saw Town defender James Walker sent off and Barnes put Cadbury ahead from the penalty.

Barnes netted from a first-minute goalmouth scramble in the second period.

Town boss Quentin Townsend made a triple substitution with Mitch Butterworth, Dean Waldron and Cameron Mathewson settling straight into the game.

Three minutes later Aldington slid the ball through for Clarke to beat two defenders and fire home.

But on 76 minutes Clarke was dismissed for dissent and five minutes from the end Barnes completed his hat-trick with another penalty.
