EVESHAM'S visit to Gloucester Rowing Club’s autumn head time trial secured five wins and seven second places.

Safely navigating the bends and bridges of the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal from the Parkend Bridge to the finish at the Rea Swing Bridge and coming in first in their events were masters double Stuart Bird and Dave Parkin.

Other winners were J16 Toby Haycock in his single, WJ15 double Martha Robbins and Charlie Akerman, WJ14 quad Liv Evans, Megan Woodward, Rachel Egan and Emma Parkin with cox Alex McIntyre and WJ14 double Sacha Wilson and Flo Johnson.

Seven Evesham crews took second places — masters Frances Pinkerton, Norman Baldwin, Brian Hay and Rich Evans, J14 Sam McClenahan, WJ16 double Ella Shalom and Becca Parkin, WJ18 Hannah Jones and Maddie Cross, women’s open Rosie Macdonald and Libby Akerman, J15 single Tom Hill just 4.1 seconds behind the winner and WJ15 quad Isla Grelak, Poppy Cullen, Kate Dufty and Suki Glocking, coxed by Liv Evans.

Georgie Banton and Jack Harris rowed well but finished outside the top two in their events.

The long course tested racing endurance over 5,000 metres but competitors had to row 7,000m to the start, while short course competitors raced over 1,750m with a further 4,000m in total.
