SHIPSTON-on-Stour collapsed to 83 all out in their nine-wicket defeat at reigning Cotswold Hills Cricket League Premier Division champions Wellesbourne.

The home side won the toss and Shipston were again asked to bat first.

Julian Morris (15) and Simon Willey (4) started well before Chris Evans (3-15) dismissed both and Matt Corby (10) quickly to leave the visitors in trouble at 32-3.

Jack Murphy (10) and Marcus Ireland (1) tried to recover the situation and looked like doing so before the latter suffered a freak dismissal, run out via a deflection off the heel of the bowler while backing up.

Darren Mole (1-27) then dismissed Murphy lbw with the penultimate delivery of his fine 10-over spell.

Shipston were on 47-5 and in need of a strong middle-order performance but there was to be no recovery with nearly all batsman gifting their wickets to catches before Sam Dexter was the last to go lbw for one.

Neil Wilson (19 not out) and Stephen Cross (11) were the only two Shipston lower-order batsmen to put up any resistance.

In response, Wellesbourne’s openers made easy work of the low run chase, finding the boundary on regular occasions to keep themselves in full control.

Myles Isted (21) was the only wicket to fall when Cross (1-16) found a leading edge to claim a simple caught and bowled.

Jamie Maynard (12no) joined Ross Milton (32no) at the crease to finish the job in the 13th over.

High-flying Shipston seconds beat Broadway by 32 runs in a Cotswold Division Three derby.

Shipston were dismissed for 126 but hit back by taking out their visitors for 94.

Meanwhile, Dumbleton beat Lechlade by two wickets in the West of England Premier League Premier Two Gloucestershire/Wiltshire.

The hosts amassed 268-4 in 50 overs but Dumbleton used up all their balls to win on 269-8 through Tom Hage (65), Wade Ridsdale (44), Robbie Hardwick (42no) and Jamie Diamond (20no).
