PERSHORE got held to a winning draw at home to C&R Hawks on Saturday despite Christopher Ridings remaining unbeaten on 122 runs.

The Plums amassed 251 for five off 55 overs, a tally that rarely looked like being bettered thanks to early wickets from Darren Critcher (2-67) and Stephen Miles (1-47) leaving Hawks on 12 for two.

But Mubeen Rashid (47), Kabir Ali (74) and Saqib Akbar (29) steadied the ship and by the time George Kirby (3-44) had stifled the scoring, Pershore were never realistically close enough to skittling their visitors.

Opener Liam Ridings (36) provided the platform for a 47-run first-wicket stand for the hosts with Jon Hancock (32) also contributing.

The damage was done when Pershore conceded 83 for the fourth wicket as Rashid and Ali totalled 20 boundaries between them.

The Plums head to second-bottom Astwood Bank in Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Division Two on Saturday (noon).
