LIN Andrew won the trophy at Broadway ladies' club championships on one of the hottest days of the year.

The gross challenge was close after the first 18 holes but Andrew soared to victory in the second round with a total of 167.

Vicky Watkins got 176 to earn the runner-up salver prize.

Ladies' captain Maggie McDivitt achieved a best nett score of 146 to win the vase donated by long-standing member Julia Ward.

Later in the day, other ladies were out to support the championship day stableford over 18 hole.

Brenda Corfield was first with 38 points ahead of Valerie Steven with 37 and Nadine Simpkin with 36.

The juniors' open took place the following day and Jack Drury won with 64 nett.

Drury was a member at Broadway but now represents Cotswold Hills and plays off a handicap of two.

Joshua Griffiths from Stratford took second with 66 ahead of home player Sonny Nangle with 67.

A stableford for the Tams Cup for the 29 to 40 handicap group was won convincingly by Broadway’s William Jones with 53 points.

Ryan Wright achieved second with 48 and James Sutherland third with 42.
