Owen nets twice as Robins win again

9:37pm Tuesday 13th November 2007

Evesham Utd 3, Aylesbury Utd 0

THREE first half goals helped the Robins collect a third successive league win but the margin of victory was hugely flattering.

Mark Owen netted after three minutes when he tapped in from two yards after Danny Scheppel's shot had hit a post.

Scheppel doubled the lead after 35 minutes with a neat left-footed finish after Steve Lutz had helped on Michael Hayden's free-kick.

And a perfect first half was capped on the stroke of half-time when Owen found the net for the 14th time this term with an angled left-footer from 20 yards that took a wicked deflection before finding the net off a post.

The Robins hardly had a kick in the second half as Aylesbury ran the show and only Daniel Lennon's free-kick ten minutes from time brought out a save from Tom Vincent.

The visitors, though, must have used up their goal tally in a 5-0 win at Stourport last Saturday, as they just couldn't find the target although Nathan Vaughan had his busiest 90 minutes of the season.

The Ducks actually had 13 goal attempts compared to Evesham's five but Vaughan's goal remained intact due to some fine stops and wayward finishing.
