IT proved a busy weekend for members of Arden Sailing Club with the first day of the Sail Training on Saturday followed by normal racing the next day.

The first race proved to be exciting with David Yule taking to the water in his brand new Heron for the first time and David Stephen capsizing his Laser several times.

Results - Arden Trophy: 1 Stuart Stephen & Mervin Brakespear (Enterprise); 2 Alan Salerman & Ray Trace (Enterprise); 3 Keith Stevens(Comet); 4 D Yule (Heron); 5 David Bryden (Heron); 6 D Stephen(Laser); 7 Malcolm Colledge (GP14).

As the starting sequence for race two commenced, the wind became quit blustery and resulted in a spectacular capsize from Stevens (Comet), and an excursion into the bank for Bryden (Heron) that resulted in their retirements.

The other six boats made flying starts with the Enterprise pulling clear ahead of the rest.

Lighter and variables winds now enabled the experienced pair of Salerman and Trace to pull out a lead over the other Enterprise.

Results: 1 Salerman & Trace; 2 Stephen & Brakespear; 3 Yule (Heron); 4 Alan Browning (Solo); 5 Stephen.

Arden Sailing Club is very much a family club and welcomes new members.
