Brace of wins leave Elite at the summit

WYRE Elite are the new first division leaders after notching up their third and fourth straight wins.

Their third came against Kington Bulldogs with Darrell Wiltshire on target in a 6-4 win with a maximum.

Elite then defeated Littleton Aces 8-2 with Matt Hartwell and Choi Sze recording maximums while Wiltshire added a brace of wins.

Bengeworth Red remain in second place after recording their third win of the season against Littleton 8472 6-4.

The match of the night saw Chris Pearce narrowly defeat Tristan Gretton 11-2, 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 17-15.

Pearce went on to record a maximum for the Red with Geoff Collings winning two. Red sealed the win when Stefan Mytton beat Alex Gretton in five sets. Gretton was 10-6 up in the fifth but managed to lose six points in a row and lose it 12-10.

Bengeworth Blue are in third after recording a 9-1 win over Bengeworth Purple.

Both Craig Norledge and Margaret Dignum were on target for the Blue with maximums. Bengeworth Blue’s next match ended in disappointment as they lost 9-1 to Wyre Livewyre. Mark Bilsborrow and Malcolm Macfarlane both recorded maxi- mums for Livewyre while Mark Green recorded two wins.

Littleton 8472 remain in fourth place and narrowly missed out on victory against Littleton Clubs.

The match ended 5-5 with the highlight seeing Dave Harvey overcoming Tristan Gretton in five sets.

Wyre Positives moved up to fifth after recording a brace of wins. They disposed of Kington Bulldogs 10-0 with Nick Mytton, Doug Payne and Geoff Woodward all on target with maximums.

Mytton was on target again against Bengeworth Purple recording another maximum as did debutant Luke Gordon in the 6-4 win.

Kington Bulldogs narrowly lost 6-4 to Bengeworth Tigers despite them only having two players.

Grahame Brown beat both Andrew and Ernie Smith to record a maximum for the Tigers with Bob Price winning one.

Bulldogs managed to get two points out of the game to take them off the bottom of the league with Andrew Smith winning two and Ernie Smith one and together they won the doubles.
