GARY Payne and Steph Lane retained their titles after winning the Humph’s Hilly half marathon for the second year.
Payne recorded a time of one hour 16 minutes three seconds while Lane crossed the line in 1.29.13.
Payne was tucked into the group of Stephen Price (UK Netrunner) and Bourton’s Dennis Walmsley, who finished in 1.17.29, until half way, at which point the Vet 50s competitor pulled away.
Lane opened up a convincing lead from the start, finishing almost two minutes ahead of runner-up Lorraine Ryan (Gloucester AC) after overtaking Vicky Cotter (Wimbledon Windmilers). Bourton’s Mike Smith did well for fourth and second Vet 40 in 1.20.08.
With an overall placing of 10th, Dave Rantell of Cheltenham Harriers took fifth.
The winning men’s team were Bourton, consisting of Walmsley, Smith and Steve Edwards.
Other results: 1st Vet 45, David Headon 1.25.16; 1st Vet 50 Michael Williams, 1. 32.25; 2nd Vet 50 Donald Maclaren 1.33.47; 1st Vet 55 Steve Colbourne 1.34.38.
