ADLESTROP defeated Chedworth by six wickets in Cotswold District League Division One.

Dan Parker and Nick Keen were both miserly with the run-rate and in the fifth over Parker took two wickets with only eight runs on the board to put the away side on the back foot.

The tight lines continued as Allan Walker and Dave Moore took over and more wickets fell at regular intervals, stopping any productive partnership from forming.

When Parker returned for a second spell, two wickets remained which he duly took to claim 4-19 and leave the scoreboard on 93.

In reply, Dave Hughes and Matt Barnes put on a first-wicket partnership of 41 to ease any nerves for the hosts.

Barnes completed his half-century but was just unable to to see the job through and a couple of points were dropped as four wickets fell. Jack Bisson and Moore got their side over the line in the 23rd over for a comfortable win.

Sunday’s game at home to Upton House could have been different as no less than eight catches failed to stick as Adlestrop fielded first.

Although JJ King and Fred Rawlings started well, the wickets would not come.

Indeed, the missed chances were costly as a fifth-wicket stand of 135 helped Upton House post 212-5.

Dan Adams and Walker built a sound base in reply, but the bowlers gave little away and the run-rate steadily crept up.

Kev Duester brought up his 50 but Adlestrop fell 36 runs short.

League leaders Bourton Vale suffered their second defeat of the season at the hands of Great Tew. After winning the toss, Tew batted on a hard and bouncy wicket.

Their innings never really got going and, thanks to a excellent team display in the field and some tight bowling, Bourton restricted their opponents to 144 all out.

Ed Shaw was the pick of the bowlers with threw wickets.

In reply, Bourton’s innings started badly. Out-of-form captain Lazenbury was bowled for seven and overseas player Hamza Saleh was also bowled for nought by paceman Smith.

Charlie Garratt and Nawaz Mucadam steadied the ship for a while but Bourton were dismissed for a spineless 89.

They will be looking to bounce back on Saturday against bottom team Hanbourgh.

Meanwhile, the seconds faired a little better against Thame.

Thame only managed 156-8 with Steve Stroud taking 5-78 and Matt Kyte 3-57. Bourton limped to 133-9 and were only saved by skipper Shepherd and Jack Galpin.
