Blockley Ladies 4, Leominster 3.
BLOCKLEY showed their Severn Hockey League Division One leaders the way with excellent team play and clinical finishing.
Positive play from the start saw Fiona Drinkwater slip the ball goal-bound to take the lead, but Leominster equalised from a well-taken hit. Although under pressure from a strong forward line, the hosts kept their heads and just before the break they regained the lead through player-of-the-match Charlotte Hall.
The visitors drew level shortly after the interval with a fortunate deflection in defence.
Expecting a highly charged start from the opposition, the team pulled together to keep them at bay.
Quick breaks from the rear allowed Blockley to stun Leominster with a goal from Annie Lissington.
Other chances came and went before Blockley had a goal disallowed.
A melee in front of goal gave the visitors the opportunity to level once more.
Blockley, not happy to sit and defend, charged forward and sealed victory with a second goal for Drinkwater.
Gloucester III 3, Blockley Ladies 5.
A SWIFT start from Gloucester saw them take an early lead from a well-taken short-corner.
Blockley recovered and Olivia Drinkwater placed the first of her hat-trick.
A well-executed reverse stick shot by Grace McLaughlin followed and she shared the player-of-the-match prize with Drinkwater, whose storming runs into the opposition circle melted the defence for the third.
Gloucester claimed a second from a short-corner persistence after two initial saves.
After the interval Drinkwater completed her treble and Gloucester battled for their third in an exciting eight-goal encounter.
