Bret ladies defeated

Bretforton Ladies 1, Lydney 4.

BRETFORTON were unable to keep their winning form going when they lost away to Lydney.

Bretforton struggled to find their feet during the first-half and chances to gain possession and create chances to score were limited.

Lydney played their usual quick- flowing hockey and had numerous chances to score of their own but went narrowly wide on a number of occassions.

Player-of-the-match, goalkeeper Vic Watkins, and her trusty defence of Jane Wheeler, Sarah Cook, Liz Murray-White and Kate Mitchell battled through the continuous onslaught from Lydney but were finally broken when a well-worked short corner routine saw the ball fly into the net.

Bretforton tried to gain some possession of the ball but a quick second goal from Lydney on the break saw the half end 2-0.

In the second-half, the Lydney keeper was called upon to make a number of saves from open play with Becky Mawby, Sarah Hall and Deb Slatter linking well up- front.

But it was Lydney’s day and they scored a third midway through the second period. The hosts responded with Lisa Workman scoring from a short corner soon after but it was too little too late as Lydney put the game beyond Bretforton with a fourth.
