Dumbleton 144-3, Evesham Casuals 109-6.

DUMBLETON lost Matt Nicholson in the first over of this Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League clash when he was slow to respond to his partner’s call for a quick single.

But Mark Fish joined skipper Pete Boorman and tucked into some friendly bowling, particularly from Les Griffiths, who went for 48 in his three overs.

When they retired with 60 on the board, Andy Powell and David Smith continued the good work, putting on another 30 before they both perished in the 10th over with the score on 114.

Last man Phil Nicholson, together with Boorman, smashed 30 off the last two overs to post a healthy total of 144-3.

Needing 12-per-over, Andy Stanley and Will Lloyd took 13 off the first over, but then Stanley was beaten by Dave Smith’s slower ball. Ashley Mitchell then joined Lloyd.

But both had problems with the bowling of Fish and then Powell and Boorman bowled well to limit the scoring rate to less than 10-per-over.

This led to increasing frustration and three successive run outs.

Boorman then bowled Mark Smith and Lee Clarke came in to vainly fight a losing cause, with Evesham Casuals going down by 35 runs.

Harvington 146-1, Temple Grafton 94-6.

SECOND-placed Harvington continued their push for the league title when they outclassed Temple Grafton, winning by 52 runs. Nick Powell fired a quick-fire 25 in three overs and then Jaiman Rudd and Lewis Austin added 50 to have 78 on the board after seven overs.

With Rudd retiring, James Towey joined in the fun and saw the 100 up with three overs left.

When Austin retired, an unfortunate slip-up saw father Derek run out first ball.

But Simon Price and Towey combined to add another 46 to post 146-1.

Dan Gould and Carl Page gave Temple Grafton a slow but solid start but both had difficulties with the line and length of Towey and Derek Austin.

Page upped the pace but, when he retired, Rudd ripped the Grafters middle order apart.

Powell, who had been held in reserve, reduced Grafton to 94 all out.

Next Tuesday’s fixtures (played at Prince Henry’s Sports Hall): Great Alne v Dumbleton (8pm); Evesham Casuals v Temple Grafton (9pm).
