BREDON Hill Middle’s Zak Brown starred as south Worcestershire finished third at the County Schools’ Cross-country finals.

Pupils from Elmley Castle, Eckington, Sedgeberrow, St Barnabas, St Nicholas, Abbey Park, St Egwin’s, Bredon Hill, Blackminster, Simon de Montfort and Bowbrook House formed the area’s team.

Brown was the fastest competitor in the county for year six at Top Barn, Holt Heath, near Worcester.

Year seven pupils Tazmin Pugh (Abbey Park Middle) and Ollie Morgan (St Barnabas First and Middle) bagged silver medals.

Meanwhile, Evesham High School hosted a south Worcestershire Sportshall athletics competition.

More than 100 pupils from Simon de Montfort, Blackminster, Bredon Hill, St Egwin’s and Abbey Park competed for a place in the county finals.

St Egwin’s boys and Bredon Hill girls won their competitions to progress.

Bredon Hill’s year eight girls then finished third at the county stage.

Evesham High’s young leaders, particularly Meg Pointing, made the event possible.

South Worcestershire held an annual celebration of inclusive sport at Prince Henry’s High School which was well attended by pupils with special education needs.
