A WYRE Piddle middle-distance runner aims to line up alongside Great Britain medal hope Mo Farah at the Olympics.

Matt Bond is ranked third in the UK over 10,000 metres behind compatriots Farah and Chris Thompson, who are guaranteed two of the three spots in London.

The 29-year-old will be out to join them when he competes in the Olympic trials at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium tomorrow.

He wants to beat his personal best of 29 minutes eight seconds set when winning the Stanford Invitational in California last month.

Former triathlete Bond, who will also compete in the 5,000m at the trials, has spent the last two years training at altitude in the USA.
