DATE IN THE STATES: Goalkeeper Jamie Hatch has won a football scholarship in Kansas.
DRAKES Broughton goalkeeper Jamie Hatch is preparing to pursue his football dreams in the United States.
The 18-year-old, who is studying sport at South Worcestershire College, has been offered a football scholarship at Cloud County University, Kansas, from September.
After attending a trial in Leeds, Hatch was selected to train with the university team, who are the American national champions and known as the Thunderbirds.
The teenager will also be studying for a degree in exercise science, sports nutrition and physical science. He said: “I discussed my future goals with Geoffrey Samuels, the FA coach at the college, and the fact that the sports course is assessed via coursework, rather than exams was a definite bonus for me.”
