Get set for One Mile Challenge

THE ever-popular Bourton One Mile Challenge returns for the 10th time on Saturday.

Entries are well up on previous years and around 200 runners will race along Rissington Road from the Fishing Lodge to the finish opposite the Spar shop in Bourton-onthe- Water.

The contest starts at 6pm with registration and late entries taken from about 5pm in Victoria Hall.

The first runner to beat the four-minute barrier will receive £500. More details are available from Ali or Norm Lane on 01386-700800.

  •  Bourton Roadrunners tackled the Evesham 10-kilometre race in wet conditions.

Dennis Walmsley was first home for the club in fifth spot and first veteran in 36 minutes 14 seconds.

In the Windmill Halfmarathon in Lancashire, Jan Short clocked one hour 49 minutes six seconds for the first veteran 50 prize.
