Budapest is tough for Alice

ALICE Powell endured a frustrating weekend in the GP3 series at the Hungaroring in Budapest.

Despite setting the eighth fastest lap of the second race, the Chipping Norton Status Grand Prix driver had to settle for 19th and 20th positions in the Formula One support series.

New to the track, Powell improved from practice to qualifying and eventually lined up on the grid in 19th place for the first race, 1.67 seconds behind pole sitter Vainio.

The GP3 rookie made a good getaway but she was forced off-line during the opening lap and was unable to make up lost ground.

It was a similar story in race two as, after climbing from 19th to 13th by the end of the first lap, she was delayed by a pit stop and finished 20th.

Powell hopes for better fortune in her next race in Spa Belgium, August 31.
