Badsey slump to defeat

COTSWOLD Hills League Division Four leaders Badsey lost their first game of the season, going down by eight wickets at Earlswood.

Batting first after losing the toss, Badsey openers David Wheatley (14) and Michael Powell (52) took the score to 66 before the former fell to James Guest in the 14th over. Three more wickets fell in the next nine overs to leave Badsey on 90-4.

A partnership of 63 between Rob Andrew (36) and Ian Hardwick (28) steadied the innings as the visitors eventually made 176-8.

Earlswood built a solid opening partnership with Phil McGovern (30) and Mo Khan (52) before the latter fell to John Osborne in the 27th over.

Phil McGovern went in the next over but Joe McGovern (23 not out) and Jack Wardle (42no) saw Earlswood to victory.
