Shoot-out success for Old Boys in cup

THE opening round of the Evesham Mechanical Services Knock-out Cup produced several upsets.
Division Three outfit Pershore High Old Boys took the honours, defeating Pinvin United in a penalty shoot-out after the sides shared four goals.
Haines and Sheen scored for Old Boys, while Izod and Bulford replied for Pinvin.
Anchor Harriers won 5-2 at Evesham WMC with goals from Smith (3) and Quantrell (2). In an all-Division One tie, Broadway United comfortably dispatched Mickleton Rangers 7-2.
Holders Bretforton Old Boys thrashed Sun Inn 19-1 with Gayton (4), Stride, Johns, Richardson and Payne (all 2) among the scorers.
Apperley/Tewkesbury Dynamos recorded their first win, accounting for Campden/ Ebrington United 2-0 with goals from Merry and Curtis.
AC Olympia defeated Vale Wanderers 4-1 with Morrison, Quimby, O’Sullivan and Elliott on target.
Goals from Beckingham, Nottingham and Sklennar earned WMK a 5-0 win at Stour Excelsior Reserves.
But Stour’s first team progressed with a 7-1 win at Bengeworth thanks to a Harris treble, while Liam Scrivens hit a hat-trick for Tesco United in their sixgoal win over Ecosamba.
Nick Burrows scored twice as Offenham Rovers continued their good start with a 4-2 victory at Ashton.
Ellis, Stocks, Reid and Greaves scored for Alderton in a 4-2 victory over Fladbury Athletic.
In the second round, Bear hit nine without reply against Stratford United with Phil Davies scoring four goals.
Tewkesbury Town won 6-2 at Dragons as Petitt and Jordan scored twice, while Gardeners Arms beat Fairfield 6-3 with Beasley netting a hat-trick.
Defford/Besford United upset Honeybourne Gate Inn 3-1 in Division One with goals from Barton, Thomas and Andrews.
In Division Two, Cidermill got off the mark in a ninegoal thriller at Lenches Lions. Beattie (2), Bullock (2) and Kerr scored with Evans (2), Burtenshaw and Davies replying.
An ill-tempered Division Three game saw two players sent off as Badsey Rec and Broadway United Reserves shared eight goals.
Norvak and Cox were on target for Ambassador in a 2-1 win at Salford Priors.
In Division Four, Alcester Town won 7-2 at Pebworth with goals from Sallis (2), Lambert, Batchelor, Brunt, Richardson and Spires.
