Geddes on target for Blockley
3:00pm Thursday 18th October 2012 in Sport
EARLY leaders Blockley recorded a well-earned 4-0 home win over Lansdown seconds in West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Severn Division One.
Their defence, led by captain and player-of-the-match Sam Jones, prevented the visitors from breaking through. Blockley opened the scoring with Fiona Drinkwater battling for the ball on the goal-line and she added a second with a well-timed run at the back post.
Before the half was over, the hosts extended the lead to 3-0 as the ball crept over the line due to the persistence of Jo Hardwick.
In the second-half, Blockley won a series of short corners and scored as Laura Geddes followed up a loose ball.
Keeper Claire Miles cleared away any danger to ensure a clean sheet for Blockley who host Cheltenham thirds on Saturday at Evesham’s Prince Henry’s High School (10am).
