PERSHORE men hosted their first National Premier Tennis League match of the season, beating Lansdowne from Bath 3-1.
Club coaches Mike Crooks and Mike Langston put in two strong displays, beating the number one pair of Rob MacArdle and Pete Hoyland 10-3 in an exciting third-set tie-break.
They then beat Stuart Smith and Oscar Wain comfortably 6-2, 6-1.
Pershore’s county players Jamie Marks and Richard Tuck opened with a win against the Bath second pair 6-4, 6-2 but came up short against MacArdle and Hoyland, losing 6-3, 6-1.
The indoor doubles competition runs to the national finals in April with eight teams in Pershore’s group which they last appeared in five years ago.
