ASHTON-under-Hill pipped Bredon in their head-to-head for the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Evesham Division title.

They went to the county finals in Worcester after scoring 114-5 with three balls left in reply to 113-1.

Bredon were put in by Ashton before openers Clive Fenney (26 not out) and Mark Hill (25no) just made ground for three runs from a direct throw on the first ball.

Will Archer kept a tight rein on Bredon, who were on 54-0 after six overs. Jamie Diamond (21no) and Jamie Munro (16) replaced the openers and allowed a rare maiden for Mahesh Patel.

But Janitha de Alwis (0-37) suffered punishment as Bredon took 60 from the last five overs for the loss of Munro, who was bowled around his legs, and Dom Fenney (11) aided the end rush.

Ashton replied in much the same rate as Bredon but lost Richard Cooper (16) to a run-out in the fifth over. However, Ashton were ahead by the eighth over for the first time, taking advantage of reduced pace from the Bredon change bowlers despite losing Jon Cooper (15) to a run-out.

Both Archer (27) and Patel retired as Ashton needed just 24 runs in three overs.

The 10th over saw the run-out of de Alwis and a fine catch from Hill to dismiss the returning Archer first ball.

In the final over, Patel (32) was run-out but Jamie Perks (18no) stood firm and got an easy three runs to clinch the match and title.

Stanway Boxmen (73-5) lost to Dumbleton (74-1) with five overs remaining.

Newcomers Joanne Cull (0-15) and Daniel Holland (1-19) bowled well for Boxmen and Dumbleton respectively.

Aaron Batchelor scored 37no for Boxmen and John Lawrence added a useful 17 before a quick straight ball from Tom Green bowled him.

The reply was fairly straightforward with Callum Carson (27no) and Matt Nicholson (27no) doing the necessary within seven overs.

Final points: Ashton-under-Hill 11, Bredon 10, Pershore 10, Dumbleton 9, Harvington 8, Alcester & Ragley 4, Feckenham 4, Stanway Boxmen 0.
