HOSTS Dumbleton won their inaugural under nines cricket festival.

Five teams and 40 youngsters from Dumbleton, Bredon, Wellesbourne, Astwood Bank and Earlswood battled for honours in the sun at Dairy Lane.

The tournament came down to a final winner-takes-all match between the previously unbeaten home side and Astwood Bank.

In a tense affair, Lewis Rollinson kept out the final delivery to ensure Dumbleton triumphed by just four runs.

They have already won festivals at Earlswood and Cam with 100 per cent records.

Meanwhile, Dumbleton girls’ under 11s made club history with their first game at Cam Festival.

They won two and narrowly lost one game to Charlton Kings.

Joint managers Simon Gilderson and Guy Stirling Lee were proud with the former saying: “It’s just great to see more girls getting the chance to play and enjoy cricket.

“The festivals are a great way to introduce them to competitive cricket and the girls rose to the occasion superbly.”

Lottie Gilderson picked up the Champagne moment for several outstanding stops behind the stumps.

The girls head to Frampton Festival on Sunday, June 28.
