A BRILLIANT century from Adam Wiffen led Pershore to a two-wicket win against Whitchurch in Birmingham and District League Division Three.

An unbeaten 153 from 155 balls from Maz Hasnain eased Whitchurch to 324-5.

Taylor Pugh took 3-44 but it was Wiffen who proved to be the catalyst for Pershore’s victory charge, smashing 136 from 97 balls on their way to victory.

Liam Ridings added 52 and Pershore earned victory with five balls remaining to regain top spot.

It was also a good day for Astwood Bank, who recorded a four-wicket home win against Handsworth.

Tom Harris (4-12) and Dan Taylor (3-22) combined to dismiss Handsworth for 132 before 43 from Steve Adshead and 35 from Ryan Blakemore saw the home side to the target.

A six-wicket haul for Shahid Ahmed helped Eastnor to a four-wicket win against Aston Manor, who had former England all-rounder Phil DeFreitas in their ranks.

DeFreitas, who played 44 Tests and 103 one-day internationals for England, hit 65 not out in Manor’s 116 with Shahid taking 6-16.

An unbeaten 40 from Josh Emery secured the win for the Herefordshire side.

Worcestershire batsman Tom Fell hit 111 for Wolverhampton in their 42-run win against Dartmouth in the Premier Division.

Ombersley secured an eight-wicket win against Leamington after Neil Slade took 5-21 to skittle the Spa for 115.

After a rocky start, Ombersley were steered to victory by Uday Kaul (44 not out) and Nick Hammond (35 not out) who put on 98 for the third wicket after the Worcestershire side had stuttered to 19-2.

Kidderminster earned their first winning points of the season in a high-scoring match at Kenilworth Wardens, who were all out for 276 in response to the visitors’ 322-8.

Neil Pinner (132) and Matt Pardoe (62) set up Kidderminster’s winning total and Pinner also proved effective with the ball, picking up 5-47 as Wardens fell 46 runs short of their target.
