THERE is a three-way battle for the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Evesham Division title as the final matches approach.

Alcester and Ragley continued their unbeaten progress and play third-placed Ashton-under-Hill in a final-game decider.

They scored 118-4 to beat Prince Henry's High School (67 all out) by 51 runs.

Without two players due to rugby coaching Alcester were slow out of the blocks and struggled to 36-0 after five overs.

Sixteen runs were taken from Will Smith's final over and at 52-0 Alcester were suddenly in excellent position on the rails.

Michael Coombs (39 not out), Ben Lee (24) and Tim Jackson (29no) were Alcester's top contributors.

Prince Henry's lost Olly Moore in the first over before Oli Timperley (11) and Robbie Hardwick (39) produced a stand of 45.

Hardwick's retirement revealed a soft lower order and although he returned and batted as last-man standing there was no coming back from 66-5.

Stanway Boxmen (135-2) beat Harvington (58 all out) by 77 runs to keep alive their title hopes.

In beating Harvington they improved their runs per wicket and moved to second place.

Despite being on 11-2 after two overs the Boxmen added 49 in the last three and a total of 135 looked beyond the reach of Harvington.

Jason Haines (42no), Mike Banks (26no), Josh Armstrong (27no) and Aaron Batchelor (18no) were the main contributors.

Harvington's batting proved brittle but Dave Walker played a captain's part for 23 and Dave French (10) added resistance.

But figures of 2-9 for Paul Evans and 2-12 for Mike Banks tell the main story.
