PERSHORE are looking forward to playing at the highest level in their history after promotion to Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League Division Two.

The town club hope to build on their success, starting at Wombourne on Saturday.

The following weekend Pershore will be at home against Penkridge.

Skipper Chris Ridings said: “We are looking forward to the new challenges that lie ahead and hope to have another successful season, enjoying our cricket with our locally-developed players.”

Pershore also welcome some new recruits. Jon Hancock, Steve Miles and Chris Miles have joined from the disbanded Worcester Dominies club.

All three players have performed consistently with the bat over previous seasons in the WorcestershireLeague.

Other new Plums include Alex Clasen, who topped the batting averages for Birlingham last year, and Ieuan Davies from Devon club Filleigh.

Pershore will be running two sides in the Birmingham League and two in the Worcestershire League.

Their women’s team will be playing in Midland League Division One as well as defending their title in the Worcestershire Development League.

After their success in last year’s County T20 Cup the under 14s are hoping for more success.

The thriving junior section have six teams covering various age groups.

Coaching sessions take place on Friday evenings throughout the season with all levels catered for.

"We are always trying to raise the standards from the youngest member to the oldest and are very fortunate to have a great coaching and support structure in place.

“We are excited about our prospects for the coming season and look forward to welcoming all visitors to the Plums to watch some exciting and entertaining cricket in a vibrant atmosphere.”
