ASHTON-under-Hill won the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Evesham Cup.

They scored 116-4 to beat Prince Henry's School's 115-3 with two balls left in an exciting finish to the season at Evesham's Worcestershire Cricket Centre.

Prince Henry's improvement continued but they looked to be short on runs until 20 arrived in the penultimate over including 12 wides.

Openers Robbie Hardwick (25 not out) and Patrick Atkins (25no) helped them put on 48 without loss at the halfway stage before Alex Oliver (20) provided back-up.

Ashton's strong batting line-up struggled against the spin bowling of Atkins and Oliver who got movement and bounce with the new ball.

They were three wickets down within four overs for only 28 with all stumped by Hardwick.

Another wicket fell in the seventh over at 52 but last pair Tom Archer (52no) and Matt Wakefield (22no) were more comfortable.

They still required 30 from the last three overs and then 11 in the final one.

A bail was dislodged by the wicketkeeper on the winning run as the ball hit the stumps and Archer was adjudged not out after consultation.

Prince Henry's won in the semi-finals but conceded 39 wides in Childswickham's 72 all out in reply to 92 all out.
