LUKE Dalley’s early blitz teed up Pershore’s 146-run walloping of Wombourne to seize top spot in Birmingham & District Division Two.

The visitors set a target of 250 with Dalley (6-28) wiping out Rawlston Tappin, Mike Hingley, Ruki De Silva and Will Cook for a meagre seven runs in Staffordshire.

Dan Bassett (43) and Alex Roy (32) provided the only resistance as the hosts had their colours lowered for 104. Matthew Brace (2-28) aided Dalley with Stephen Miles (2-2) tidying up the tail.

Prior to that, Liam Ridings (57) and captain Christopher Ridings (46) put on 70 for the second wicket as Pershore scored steadily throughout their innings.

A good tally got reinforced by tail-ender George Kirby’s stellar 45 from 29 deliveries, an impressive knock which featured nine boundaries.

Pershore lead the way from Sutton Coldfield ahead of second-bottom Fordhouses visit to The Bottoms on Saturday (1pm).
