STRENGTH throughout the order proved decisive as Evesham claimed a comfortable three-wicket win at Colwall in Worcestershire County Division One on Saturday.

The visitors were made to bowl first with Ben Febery (41), James Waters (23) and Fergus Cameron (29) making a good start to with the bat.

However, just one man from outside Colwall's top four would go on to hit double figures as captain Mohammed Fahim Maan (3-47) got to work alongside Sadam Khan (4-37) on stifling a total that was restricted to 158 all out ahead of Evesham's response.

Openers Ali Asghar (19) and Ali Shan (30) laid the foundations for victory with 60 for the opening wicket and while scoring was steady rather than spectacular from there, the result was rarely in doubt.

Nasir Mehmood (23*) and Alex Cleaves (13*) finished with a flourish to see Evesham past the post with more than 12 overs to spare courtesy of a total of 162 for seven.

Fahim Maan's men sit fifth in the table ahead of a home clash with second-bottom Pedmore on Saturday (1pm).

Tom Walsingham was Bredon's star turn in a five-wicket triumph at home to Bartestree & Lugwardine in Division Two.

The away team proved hit and miss in trying to establish a strong target with David Robinson's 56 from 70 deliveries proving a flash in the pan.

Walsingham (6-26) saw off Jack Trattell, Dan Harris, Tom Strangward and Sam Bowen for ducks to set the bar at 116, a total Bredon had no trouble in surpassing.

Martyn Draper (30) found the boundary five times to top score with Martin Hill (16) striking nearly a run per ball and Walsingham (13*) fittingly seeing through victory at 118 for five from 37.5 overs.

Next up for fifth-placed Bredon is a trip to third-placed Coombs Wood on Saturday (1pm).

Elsewhere, Michael Powell's 88 inspired Badsey's first win of the season in the Cotswold Hills League Second Division.

The away triumph at Kenilworth Wardens III was earned with more than five overs to spare as Ben Phillimore (17) and Rob Andrew (22*) supported Powell in a total of 177 for five.

Harry Butler (68) and opener Fred Rex (20) had seen Kenilworth reach 173 for seven, a total kept down by Sam Thomson's (2-18) three maiden overs from six bowled.

Lewis Baker (2-35) and Tom Ballinger (2-39) came out on top of the bowling charts on a tough afternoon for Wardens.

Wellesbourne II are the visitors to Badsey's Ballards Park headquarters on Saturday (1.30).
