Double figure lead is Evesham's incentive

VICTORY for Evesham United tonight could hand the title-chasing Robins the perfect ten!

With Stourbridge heading for St George's Lane (7.45pm), success for Paul West's men would see them open up a 10-point gap at the summit of British Gas Business Division One Midlands and stretch their unbeaten run into double figures.

Even with a such a big lead at the top, the Robins' chief is still not talking about lifting the crown.

"There are still 13 games left," he said. "We are in a fantastic position and we are just trying to win as many of those remaining games as we can.

"We can't talk about winning titles."

Evesham last suffered defeat on New's Year Day when they went down 1-0 at home to Bishop's Cleeve, and while West is eyeing as getting as many points as he can between now and April 26, another setback holds no fears.

"Last season we were a little concerned about getting beat, but this year we have won 21 out of the 27 games," West added.

"We don't fear getting beat this year, because look at what happened after our last one."

West will be without Danny Scheppel for tonight's visit of the Glassboys. The midfielder limped off after 28 minutes on Saturday in the 1-0 victory with a knee injury he sustained the previous Tuesday.

His replacement Danny Lennon came on against Leighton Town and scored within two minutes and with Sche-ppel still struggling, Saturday's match winner is set to keep his place.

Michael Hayden is a doubt with a dead leg and will have a fitness test before tonight's match with Anthony Watson on stand-by to step back in after losing his place in the starting 11 to Danny Hodnett.

Stourbridge head into this match after thrashing basement boys Berkhamsted Town 5-0 on Saturday and they will looking to avenge the 89th-minute 1-0 defeat Evesham handed out to them earlier this month.
