EVESHAM United's hopes of rattling up a ninth straight win were dashed when tonight's scheduled Division One Midlands clash with Stourbridge was called off.
Victory for the Robins would have left them ten points clear of Leamington in the race for the title but a pitch inspection this afternoon ended any hopes of the game going ahead.
Worcester referee Chris Husband had no hesitation in postponing the game with part of the pitch, underneath the main stand, at St George's Lane still rock hard after the heavy overnight frost.
The league leaders will be hoping the thaw arrives in time for Saturday's visit of Bedworth United who are due to visit Bishops Cleeve tomorrow night.
The other match in the division between Chasetown and Berkhamsted has also been cancelled.
