MARK Owen netted his 26th goal of the season, and his second in successive games from the penalty spot, to give Evesham a slender lead at Kayte Lane.
Owen strukc eight minutes before the break after Steve Lutz had received a push in the back as he attempted to get on the end of Steve Luckett's cross.
The table topping Robins, seeking to move nine points ahead of Leamington who don't kick-off until 3pm, made all of the running but failed to seriously test Sam Gilder in the Cleeve goal.
Owen, Hay, Danny Scheppel, Luckett and Mark Hands all brought saves out of Gilder who was powerless to prevent Owen giving the visitors the lead.
Scheppel was needed after 23 minutes when Michael Hayden limped off eight minutes after Bishops had lost prolific striker Kevin Slack also because of injury.
