TWO closely-fought Handicap Races filled the programme for Evesham Sailing Club members at Common Road last Sunday.
Roger Middleton and John Pickford found themselves in front of the rest of the fleet in the opener before the wind brought the whole fleet together leaving the leading duo struggling to find room to negotiate the marks.
Out of the bunched boats came Ian Edwards and Adam Styles who then began to dominate the race leaving several individual duels behind them.

Simon Styles and Pickford enjoyed close company for most of the race but it was Peter Green who sailed through the fleet to take up the challenge alongside Edwards and Adam Styles.
Team Baylis had to contend with Middleton and Stuart Bonham, but it was Edwards who held on to the lead and Green narrowly beating Adam Styles for second place
The second heat saw the latter take the lead from the start with Edwards in hot pursuit.
Green fell foul of a penalty that effectively put him out of the race but again Simon Styles and Pickford competed closely until the former had a tremendous lift downwind for an advantage that he kept to the finish.
Edwards couldn't catch Adam Styles but managed to keep close enough to win on handicap with Styles runner-up and Simon Styles third.
