Seniors sign off with a Saturday success
Winning ways: Yasmin Tredell.
Winning ways: Yasmin Tredell.

EVESHAM'S Senior IV coxed four of Steve Redgewell, Tom Walker, Tom Robertson, and George Holdsworth, coxed by Zena Tredell, overcame a strong crew from RGS Worcester to round up the first day's pot hunting.

Saturday night provided a night of music and dancing and, as Sunday dawned, the cloudy day couldn't dampen spirits.

The Women's J15 quadruple scull replicated their win of the previous day, again beating Llandaff, again by half-a-length.

They were followed to victory by the J14 double scull who saw off their opposition with three-quarters of a length to spare.

Veteran A double scullers David Pollard and Tony Rowlands demonstrated experience overcame youth to finish three lengths ahead of an Upton crew to claim their pots.

There was another all-Evesham final, this time in the WJ16 event, between Yasmin Tredell and Ruth Whyman. Both girls were out to win but it was the former, racing up a year, that ruled with victory by almost three lengths.

There was also success for Abi Penrose and Tash Symonds in the WJ18 coxless pairs.

Having been drawn against Cheltenham Ladies for the straight final it was destined to be tight. Neck and neck down the course, the girls put in a final push to squeeze ahead to the line and win by a foot. The weekend was not only one of racing, but of celebrating.

The naming of the club's brand new Eight - Gabriel T - took place in memory of the late Gabby Tolkien.

The trophy for "Best Evesham Performance" went to the Senior III Eight who had provided a real crowd pleaser as they fought hard in a row and re-row loss against RGS Worcester.
