MARK Owen almost netted his sixth goal in seven games since returning to the club after just three minutes.
The striker met a cross from Mark Hands at the far post but saw his volley hit the inside of a post and then be hacked off the line by Harry Harris.
Chasetown's first threat came a minute later when Dean Perrow shot wide from Gary Birch's centre.
Perrow wasted a great chance after eight minutes when he lobbed wide with only Nathan Vaughan to beat.
United had great chance to take the lead after 11 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after a foul on Steve Lutz but Mark Owen saw his poorly-taken spot-kick saved by Ryan Price.
