Collicutt: We must win more homes games

EVESHAM United manager Paul Collicutt has reiterated the importance of his side making the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium a tough place for opponents.

The Robins are now in their third season at their Cheltenham Road ground but have struggled for consistency in front of their own fans.

Collicutt puts that down to the impressive facilities at the stadium, which he believes make visiting teams raise their level.

He is determined to improve Evesham’s home form, starting against Bridgwater Town tomorrow (3pm), as United aim to build on a win and draw from their first two Southern League Division One South and West games.

The manager said: “Those results mean nothing unless we get a positive result against Bridgwater.

“I keep harping on to the lads that we need to make teams not fancy coming to Evesham. But teams like the pitch and facilities here, it gives them a lift straight away.

“It’s very important to start getting positive results at home. If we can do that I would like to think the people of Evesham will respond.”

United could be boosted by the return of last season’s top-scorer Lance Smith following holiday but he faces a battle to get into a team that won 5-0 at Bishops Cleeve on Tuesday and drew 1-1 at Fleet Town last Saturday.

Collicutt said: “We have taken four points from six and the lads are disappointed that we haven’t done a bit better. We had as many chances against Fleet as we did against Bishops Cleeve.”

Bridgwater beat Bashley 4-0 last Saturday.
