MANAGER Paul Collicutt is determined Evesham United’s forthcoming FA Cup clash will not be a distraction for tonight’s visit of Clevedon Town (7.45pm).

The Robins are in third qualifying round action against Chalfont St Peter at the Jubilee Stadium on Saturday in their best showing in the competition for three seasons.

But first they face the second of three home matches in a week as they look to build on the 5-0 weekend thrashing of Swindon Supermarine.

That was Evesham’s first Southern League Division One South and West success on their own pitch this term and Collicutt wants more of the same against lowly Clevedon.

He said: “We have got to be positive and be focused on the game. It’s my job to make sure the lads don’t relax and take things for granted.

“Football has always got a way of kicking you up the backside and I don’t want that to happen tonight.

“In my eyes, tonight is more important than Saturday because the league is our bread and butter and I want us to win as many games as we can to end up in the top half of the table.”

Harry Williams scored two of the goals against Swindon but his loan spell from Cheltenham Town has ended.

Collicutt added: “It was nice to get the monkey off our backs at home but we have played better than that and lost.

“We had the rub of the green and in the end ran out comfortable winners.”

As well as Williams, Evesham will be without Will Wellon (groin) and central defensive colleague Linden Dovey (hip) is rated 50-50.

Midfielder Nick Stanley has a foot injury but striker Carl Brown could return following a bout of flu.

Meanwhile, Hereford United host Corby Town at Edgar Street in the Southern League Premier Division (7.45pm) seeking a first win in four matches.

Jon Taylor’s side hit back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at Bideford on Saturday but are 16th in the table having previously lost to Chippenham and Hungerford.

Pershore Town were knocked out of the FA Vase second qualifying round by higher-graded Walsall Wood 3-0.

Town visit Southam United tonight in Midland League Division One (7.45pm).
