MANAGER Paul Collicutt wants an immediate response from his Evesham United team as they bid for success in the FA Trophy.

The Robins are in first qualifying round action tomorrow when they host Banbury United at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium (3pm), a tie worth £2,700 to the winners.

It has been a mixed week for Evesham after they suffered a 3-0 Southern League Division One South and West defeat at Mangotsfield United on Tuesday, having produced a fine performance in being edged out by Bromley in the FA Cup last Saturday.

But Collicutt is not too despondent and believes the Mangotsfield match can be put down to a bad day at the office.

He said: “It was a lack-lustre performance, for what reason I don’t know, and it’s hard to believe that you can name the same 11 that performed so well on Saturday and them not turn up on Tuesday.

“I can take that as long as we respond tomorrow. I am looking to get a response because, as well as we did last weekend, it was disappointing on Tuesday.”

Evesham, who received a bye in the previous round, will be without Lance Smith through work commitments which will also force the striker out of Tuesday’s trip to Merthyr Town.

Centre-half Linden Dovey is also ruled out after picking up a hamstring injury against Mangotsfield with Liam Harding, his replacement in south Gloucestershire, set to come in.

Banbury play in the Premier Division but are bottom of the table and were thrashed 5-1 at home by Hereford United on Tuesday.

Evesham’s best spell against Mangotsfield came at the start when Carl Brown fired a couple of efforts wide
