EVESHAM United are determined to cement their position in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West play-off places.

The Robins, who visit lowly Sholing tomorrow (3pm), are currently third in the table following a run of just one defeat in 15 matches.

Paul Collicutt’s side held off a Cinderford fightback to draw 2-2 in the Forest of Dean on Tuesday, three days after putting seven past Bashley.

But despite their impressive form, Evesham have Stratford Town and Larkhall Athletic snapping at their heels.

Manager Collicutt said: “We have got 13 games left and everyone game will be like a cup final for us.

“Our big aim is to finish in the top five but we also know clubs behind us can catch us so we got to look after ourselves and not worry about anything else.

“It’s a long journey to Sholing and it’s going to be a very difficult game for us because it’s a tough place to get a result.

“We need to stay in the top five so we need to be as positive as we can.”

He added: “On Tuesday we started so brightly and were 2-0 up but two minutes later it was 2-2. It’s very unlike us to concede two goals so quickly. We took our foot off the throttle and Cinderford hit back.

“I look at it as a point gained rather than two lost because last season we would have lost that game.”

New signing Lee Smith, who scored on his debut at Cinderford, is set to continue in the team for the trip to Southampton.

However, striker Lance Smith and defender Linden Dovey, who both started in the mid-week game, are missing through work commitments.
