EVESHAM United boss Paul Collicutt expects a stern test from free-scoring Winchester City at the Jubilee Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

The Robins have made a below-part start to the new Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West campaign.

Unbeaten Winchester have collected 10 points and have scored 19 goals in four matches, including a 6-1 battering of Marlow on Wednesday.

“Winchester have started the season with a flourish and are the top goalscorers in the division,” said Collicutt.

“They will be coming to the Jubilee Stadium full of confidence and we will have our work cut-out.”

Evesham have picked up just four points from four games and conceded a last-gasp goal in a disappointing 1-0 home loss against Swindon Supermarine.

“It was nip and tuck against Swindon and was one of those games which could have gone either way,” said Collicutt. “It has not been an ideal start for us but there is a long way to go.

“Teams are coming to the Jubilee Stadium with a different attitude and we are finding teams hard to break down. We have to remain patient because it’s going to take a little bit of time.

“We have not yet reached the heights we did last season but we have some good players. It’s very frustrating for me, the club and the fans.”

Lance Smith (shoulder) made his first appearance of the season on Tuesday but is unavailable tomorrow.
