MANAGER Paul Collicutt urged his players to put their FA Cup exit behind them and focus on the “bread and butter” of Southern League Division One South and West.

After coming from behind to force their first qualifying round tie with Barwell into a replay, Robins lost 2-0 on Tuesday night in an “off-colour” display.

Collicutt admitted he was “bitterly disappointed” to be knocked out of the competition but insists he has to get his players in the “right frame of mind” to take on struggling AFC Totton at the Jubilee Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

“The FA Cup is enjoyable while it lasts, so now I just want to concentrate on our league performances,” he said.

“That’s the bread and butter and the one competition I want to do well in.

“This weekend is a big game for us, so hopefully we can get the players in the right frame of mind and go on and be positive for the rest of the season.”

Having gone toe-to-toe with their higher-graded opponents in a 2-2 draw, Evesham arrived at the Kirkby Road Sports in buoyant mood.

But they struggled with the pace of Barwell, who opened the scoring on 32 minutes thanks to a penalty from Brady Hickey.

Paul Fahy went close with United’s first shot at goal but the hosts wrapped the tie up 11 minutes from the end through substitute Reece Mitchell.

“It is bitterly disappointing,” Collicutt said.

“The boys weren’t good enough and we had too many players off-colour, so we have to move on.”

Totton have won just one of their first six league games but Collicutt, who is likely to be without Will Wellon (hamstring) and Joe Turley (groin) through injury, believes they will provide a stern test.

“They have had a lot of injuries but unfortunately three or four of those lads are back fit,” he said.

“I have been told they will be in the squad for Saturday, so they will be at their strongest so far this season.”
