EVESHAM United manager Paul Collicutt is looking to avenge his team’s 1-1 draw against strugglers Wantage Town as they face off again in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West tonight (7.45pm).

The early-season result that “still niggles” away at Collicutt saw the Robins come unstuck after “taking their foot off the throttle, allowing Wantage back in”.

Collicutt has urged his men to stay on their toes at the Jubilee Stadium and avoid making the same mistakes as last time, which threw vital points away.

With Evesham one point off second place and undefeated in the last 10 league games after winning 3-1 at Wimborne Town on Saturday, Collicutt’s men will hope to keep their momentum going by defeating Wantage.

Evesham are, however, still refusing to get carried away as the club are taking “everything one game at a time” with the overall aim still just to “stay as high as possible and look after ourselves”, according to the manager.

Collicutt is thrilled to welcome“hard-working” midfielder Ashley Williams back into the fold after suspension along with “experienced” goalkeeper Kevin Sawyer.

It is currently unknown whether Lance Smith, who bagged two goals in last Tuesday’s 4-2 win over Bishops Cleeve, will be cleared to play due to his bruised foot with Elliot Kennedy (hamstring) and Sam Pearson (quad) ruled out.

The Robins then face a stern test on Saturday at home to eighth-placed Salisbury, who will be looking to derail the in-form side’s season.

With last week’s win coming despite “losing some key players”, Evesham can afford to be confident as they search for their 10th league win in a row tonight.
